One of high fashion’s most glamorous designers gets ready to retire after 45 years in the throne. Valentino took his final bow on the runway while successor, Gucci alumni, Alessandra Facchinetti faces the task of presenting her first collection while the mentor was still in-house.
She rose to the occasion with a structured, yet light array of silhouettes that built the business for the brand from day one. The collection was no doubt celebrated with bouncy, festive styles Valentino made famous in the ‘80s; ruffled cocktail dresses, polka-dot skirts, pastel confections, and of course, the most glamorous of red-carpet gowns.
Valentino ruled the runways, dressing everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Cate Blanchett.
