As a little girl I always use to go into my mothers bedroom to sneak a whiff of her perfumes on her dresser drawer. Like a kid in a candy store, my eyes were fixated on all the shiny glass bottles in delightful colors and in all shapes and sizes. To this day I still base a large part of my scent choice to the design of the bottle and most recently, this one caught my eye: Infusion d’Iris by Prada.
The vintage-inspired bottle features the rope-bordered Prada crest, which was designed by Miuccia Prada’s grandfather, Mario, in 1913. At first scent you get a very feminine, floral, smell and this is where the contrast begins. After a few minutes as the perfume has had some time to settle into your skin, the scent moves into a more earthy stage with slight masculine undertones.
The personality of the scent is classy and versatile therefore making it a very “likable” fragrance that perhaps can be safe enough to by as a gift for any woman. I know I am making a pretty bold statement, but you are talking to a woman who makes her perfume purchases based on the design of the packaging.
Top notes are orange blossom and mandarin; heart note is orris; base notes are galbanum, lentisc, benzoin, incense, vetiver and cedarwood. $115 CDN for the EDP, 100 ml bottle at Holt Renfrew.
