Denim as a fabric is a commodity. We all wear it one way or another. I was excited to see in this month’s In Style Magazine, they did a feature on “Denim Footwear”. Ballerina’s are still a strong contender in Spring / Summer footwear trends and the styles photoed here are so unique!
These cute little numbers often get left out since we always focus on the denim we wear on our bottoms and not on our feet. Here are a couple of my fashion tips to wearing denim footwear:
1. It’s ok to mix your denim hues (for example, your shoe versus your jacket). It’s never a good thing when you are too matchy matchy.
2. Try not to wear denim shoes with jeans, this may look a little heavy. Wearing denim footwear forces you to pair it up with something else. Try it with a flirty cotton skirt, colored pencil leg pant, or even a pair of wide legged linen trousers.
3. Be careful when wearing lighter colored pants as the blue denim (especially dark indigo) may rub off on the hems. The best thing to do is probably protect the denim with a Scotchgard spray.
