I have been on the hunt for a classic wrist-watch that could take me into office days and nights out. One that signifies sophistication and classic femininity while still presenting a small whiff of masculinity. (I’m not a huge fan of watches that are too skinny minnie).
On my recent trip to San Francisco, I made a purchase of an Alessi watch from the Alessandro Mendini collection called “Luna”. This well known Italian designer and architect did a fantastic job translating the roundness and mysterious of the “moon” in the watch design.
The dial is shiny black flanked in black genuine leather bands, a mineral crystal cover, with stainless steel trimming and measuring 36 mm in diameter. Although it’s modern and minimal design makes this time piece look truly expensive, it’s actually quite affordable at $98 USD.
In Vancouver you can find Alessi watches at Chachkas on South Granville Street. If you are in San Francisco you must head into the Hayes Valley area and visit Scandinavian Details and Kristina Runske (and her cat) will be there to greet you with a warm welcome!
