Tighten Up The Money Belt

Everyone is tightening the money belt nowadays and trying to shop smarter. Here are a few tips to make sure you stay within your budget and stay on top of trends:

1. It makes sense to invest in pieces that last you a long time and never go out of style, like tailored blazers, knee skirts, button shirts, boot cut jeans, sheath dresses, and button up cardigans. How do you know when an item is an investment piece? I always ask myself 2 questions: Can I wear this 5 to 8 different ways and am I able to wear it more than 3 to 4 times a week?

2. Shop vintage and second hand. Not only will you find some stellar and unique items, you’re helping the environment by re-using. Fair warning, you must set aside some time as it takes a lot of patience to sift through thrift shop goods.

3. You don’t need a closet full of the same thing, it’s just a waste of money. Be adventurous and think outside the box and be daring. You need to diversify your wardrobe.

4. I believe the best way to change a look is to stock up on accessories: jewelry, scarves, hats, gloves, belts, handbags and footwear. You can freshen up your look with out having to break the bank.

5. Make sure you stay on top of purging. You could have money sitting in your closet collecting dust. That dress you are holding on to, hoping to fit again - get rid of it and send it off to a consignment store.
