It’s getting hot in here and I need to come up with ways to keep cool. Here are some tips and pointers for those of you that are over heating:
Light colors - Wear more of it. Just remember dark colors absorb the suns light and white reflects.
Go natural - Make sure you stick with natural fibers in your clothes (silk, cotton and linen). Nothing is worst than having your polyester or rayon shirt melt onto your body.
Cover up - Yes it’s true, covering up may actually keep you cooler, especially if the heat is low in humidity. Make sure you wear looser fitting garments, you’ll be more comfortable.
Drink up - Keep hydrated with water and try not over indulge on the sugary drinks.
Minty fresh - Use a lotion with some mint in it like Vicks Vapor rub. This will give your skin a little tingle and it feels even cooler when you stand in front of a fan.
Shower off - Step into the shower or soak yourself in a cool bath to bring your body temp down. Before completely drying yourself off, stand your semi-damp body in front of a fan and enjoy the cool down.
Pulse points - Get a cold compress or soaked towel in cold water and place it over your pulse points…side of the neck, wrists, back of neck, behind the knees and the chest.
Head gear - It’s the perfect time to sport those wonderful hats you’ve been collecting. Fedoras, wide brimmed beach hats, page boys, and cloches - If you have to be in the sun, keeping the top of your head cool will keep the rest of your body cool.
I hope this helps you out!
