Mark this date on your calender. September 10, 2009 - In a fight to make fashion buzz again in the United States, American Vogue has joined forces with NYC & Company, the City of New York, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to try to drum up shopping spirits. Being the second largest sector next to finance in NYC basically means, if the people stop spending, it would mean a dead halt to the fashion industry.

There will be several events happening during this day and apparently running from 6 pm to 11 pm. During a Fashion’s Night Out, retailers will be participating by setting up exquisite window displays, offering special sweepstakes and exclusive products.

Anna Wintour along with Michael Kors will be making an appearance at Macy’s Queen Center along with a ton of other star studded special events happening around the city:

Opening Ceremony: They’ll be hosting a block party and displaying customized vintage cars for specific designers. A black van for Alexander Wang, a low-rider for Rodarte and a VW minibus for Proenza Schouler.

Bergdorf Goodman: Zac Posen will be painting “one of a kind” creations for sale and Anne Leibovitz will be attending and showing off some Vogue images.

Chanel: They are setting up a customization studio where you can work with specialists to design and create your very own handbag.

Barneys: The Olsen twins will be bartending and Alexander Wang will be giving away runway lessons.

Fashion’s Night Out in conjunction with Vogue will also be participating 12 other countries: United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Russia, France, Brazil, India, Spain, China, Germany, Japan and Taiwan.
