Front Row @ JC Studios S/S10 Runway

Proud to be Canadian, designer RozeMerie Cuevas opened BC Fashion Week with her Spring/Summer 2010 Jacqueline Conoir collection at Fortune Sound Club. Sitting front row, (right across from model Stacey Mckenzie) I soaked in all the tailored sophistication with an edge.

I’ve always admired  Cuevas’s ability to create wearable pieces that are relevant in the market place and transferable from one season to the next. Her collection started out with a monochromatic display of equestrienne influenced suiting pieces, featuring high ruffled collars, balloon sleeves and updated jodhpurs pants.

The color palette soon moved into ocean teals, tropical under water colorations and deep African earth tones. I was pleased to see an array of dreamy goddess dresses in the collection that made me dream of a far away vacation to Bora Bora.

The biggest surprise for me was her gorgeous collection of bridal gowns. Flowing skirts that swept the runway like Ginger Rogers gracing the dance floor with modern draping techniques and adorned with traditional pearl trims. It was enough to make a girl like me blush with excitement.
