Shop ‘Til You Drop in New York

I get back to New York every 4 - 6 months and every time I go back there’s always new store openings as well as one I completely missed out on during my last visit. There never seems to be enough time to see them all as once. So here are four stores you must drop into when you visit the next time:

Alexander Wang: 26 year old American designer Alexander Wang finally invades Soho, New York. He took up the old Yohji Yamamoto space at 103 Grand Street and it’s a sleek boutique featuring glossy marble, extremely high ceilings, a fox fur hammock and draped with lush exotic flowers. Wang designed an exclusive line of leather pieces for this location only. (Main Image)

Onassis: It’s starts with a perfectly crafted woven shirt and this is the foundation of Onassis, a men’s store in Soho. I would have never of known about this store, but the owner happens to be friends with a colleague of mine. The store itself and the collection expresses, classic, sensible and unique style with out the big price tag. I love the unique buttons they use from a Japanese button maker and it’s these attention to details that makes them stand out.

Madewell: For my casual wear my go to is Madewell. Anytime I can get to Seattle I make a stop at their U Village location. You can imagine my excitement when they opened a location in Soho New York! Like any great casual outfit it starts with a great pair of jeans and this is how Madewell built their business.

Aritzia: With shops already in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago and more…Canadian retailer Aritzia opens up their first New York store in the middle of Soho. After conquering New York, Aritzia has plans for a full-scale roll-out across the USA. Watch out America, the Canadians are moving in.
