In Between The Pews

I have no problem going to church for a fashion show. Vancouver based clothing brand, Obakki debuted their F/W 2011 collection at Saint Andrew-Wesley’s church. They had over 600 people in attendance including writers and bloggers from Elle Magazine, Fashion Magazine, Le Fashion, Refinery29 and Who What Wear. Best of all, the profits from the show were donated to the Obakki Foundation. If you’d like to learn more about the Obakki Foundation and about all their efforts make sure you watch this inspirational video by Candace Meyer:

The church was draped with hundreds of lit candles while guests were greeted with beautiful haunted tunes by Marta of Fan Death and E.S.L. on the grand piano. Before the show a mysterious and moody short film set the mood for the show by www.filmgroup.tv (you can see the film below):

The atmosphere was simultaneously gothic and angelic and the collection emulated this. The show started off showing pieces that looked as light and airy as Spring and it moved into darker and deeper shades of Fall, just like the way the seasons change. Beautiful shades of white, peach, nude, cream, olive, cranberry and black walked their way down the aisle as guests watched in the pews.

Needless to say, I will never look at church the same way.
