Trends: Dropping Hemlines

The skirt is probably the single most important item trend for Summer 2011. Hemlines have dropped and there’s something about this vintage look that makes an impact for anyone who wears it. 70‘s nostalgia is in the air and now sexy is all about below the knee - either a-line, boho, or slim,  the look is feminine, whimsical and romantic. Here are some easy looks I’ve picked out to help round out your summer wardrobe:

Perfect for hot summer days, this white boho chic skirt by Guess has enough charm and whimsy. Let the sun shine down on you as you glide your way across the beach in this goddess like skirt.

Silk is a key material for summer and I love the swirl of this washed silk crepe de chine mid-calf skirt by Wilfred. It’s cut on the bias therefore the fit is just sublime.  It’s light weight feature makes it a great piece to take with you on holidays.

Full flared skirts may not be fit for everyone but I like how it slims down the waistline. This linen skirt by H&M has such a beautiful texture to it and with a batik print it’s the best piece to take with you on your tropical vacation. If Saint Tropez is not in your future, wearing it to the city park would do as well.

Needless to say, my advice this season is to go long or go home.
