I know spring is around the corner when two things happen: 1. My allergies act up (as I am sitting here nursing a sinus infection) and 2. I start to hear the birds chirping very early in the morning. Aside from all that, I truly love the spring season. It’s one of my most favorite seasons next to autumn and I adore the fashions that go along with them. When I imagine spring I think of flowy, unstructured pieces, the use of natural textiles and over-sized comfortability. One of my first stops to preview spring 2012 collections is at JNBY Canada. They are true innovators when it come to working with new textiles and creating different ways to wear clothes. I am always a huge fan of their easy and relaxed garments, although some pieces can be complicated when trying, they look like you dressed with ease once you have it on.

I tried on a few things and I found something that I knew I’d be able to wear with just about anything. A linen-like cocoon shaped button up jacket, inspired by the loose drapery of a monk’s garb. I prefer to wear this jacket loose but it can easily be belted at the waist if you would like to show off a leaner shape. It’s the perfect shaped jacket for layering - Enough room to wear layers underneath or on it’s own. As simple as this jacket is, the shape of it is defined by perfectly placed darts and seams, especially at the elbows.
