I heard a term today from one of the local weather stations here in Vancouver. The month of June has been officially dubbed as “June-uary. It’s suppose to be summer but it sure feels like January and it’s becoming a drag. While all this depressing weather is giving me the blues, here are “Three Things” that are keeping a smile on my face:

Japanese restauranteurs with the successful Miku location in Coal Harbour have opened a sister restaurant in Yaletown called Minami. We went on the very first day of opening and had a wonderful meal full of flavour. Here are some recommends:

The perfect summer salad - Slow Roasted Beets & Fern Alley Market Garden’s Baby Greens prosciutto, pickled tomato, yuzu crème fraîche, candied sesame cashew, $13.
I am not usually a fan of scallops but these were great. Shiso Mojito Watermelon and Citrus Cured Scallops mojito infused watermelon, montchevre goat cheese, micro greens, pickled celery, cucumber, $13.

I can have beef any day and theirs was melt in your mouth good. Aburi Prime Rib 10oz baby potatoes, fried green beans, soy glazed black truffle wild mushroom duxelle sauce, $34.

One of my favourite sushi dishes (I can eat a whole bunch of these) is their Aburi Salmon Oshi Sushi pressed local salmon, jalapeño, miku sauce, $14.

At one my Bar Method classes as I was concentrating on my “pretzel”, I peered over to the girl next to me and saw her perfectly manicured nails. She had this beautiful pink hue on with one silver glitter on her ring finger. I of course was immediately inspired and had to do it myself, accept I’m more of a gold person.
