It’s been a busy last few days as I start transitioning in summer. Here are three things I’m currently lusting over:

Denim: I have a new found love (yet again) with the denim shirt. Pairing it with statement necklaces and perhaps a bright colored jean is the way to go this summer.

Toe Caps: Probably my favourite shoe detail right now. Buy a pair with a neutral color-block, one pair that has a super bright color pop and one with a metal tip. You’re set.

Getting healthy and during summer is the best time for it. I’m doing a 3 day a week raw food program for 4 weeks with Organic Lives. Green drinks and smoothies packed full of power and goodness for my body.

Slither Your Way Into Summer

I see snake like I see leopard, never just a trend but a constant in fashion for anytime of the year. Trend Alert - The Clutch

Most times when you think of a clutch you think of those small wee ones ladies carry to formal events. For Spring/ Summer 2012 the clutches being sent down the runway are large enough to hold all necessary stuff a woman needs daily. From leather to synthetic, plain and structured to ornamented and slouchy, clutches come both in neutral colors and in brighter hues. Here’s some inspiration for you to drool over:

If you can’t decide on color Phillip Lim’s duo-color clutch does the trick. Lemon yellow on one side and summer white on the flip side. $400, www.ssense.com

One feature I really like on a clutch is a removable strap, like this one by House of Harlow 1960. I’m digging the geometric shapes and the periwinkle color on the clutch as well. $225, www.houseofharlow1960.com

Since black and white and color blocking is a S12 trend I think a clutch to match would be logical. This leather clutch from Zara has a full closure top zip and I love how the white graduates into black (we call that an ombre). $99.90, www.zara.com

Snake details typically are sought after as Autumn trends but this Primary New York clutch done up in psychedelic multi-colors screams Spring/Summer. $250, www.primaryny.com

For your everyday casual life I’d go with a clutch that is unstructured. How much do I love Marie Turnor’s “Pinic Bag”? A lot a lot a lot. Reminds me of my brown paper bag lunches my mother use to pack for me in elementary school. It’s brilliant. $180, www.marieturnor.com

Trend Alert: Getting All Choked Up

One of the must have jewelry items that will complete your wardrobe this Spring/Summer is a choker necklace. The draw of these necklaces is to accentuate the shoulder lines. They should be worn with an open neck, strapless or a plunging neckline garment. I think any one is able to wear a choker style but if you have a longer neck you can adorn bolder pieces and if you have a shorter neck you should sport daintier styles. Whether it be a button up shirt, an evening gown or a basic t-shirt, choker necklaces are the best way to make a statement simply and quickly.

Bright Pouts

This Spring/Summer, we’re seeing an array of brights from head to toe and your lips are going to have to show up as well. If you haven’t noticed yet, bright lips are popping up on red carpets and fashion runways galore. The most coveted hue for 2012 is coral. It can be easily worn for every day life paired with some muted neutral tones. You’ll see it in many forms from soft pastel mattes to shockingly glossy brights.

I think this is one beauty trend you must try to embrace and incorporate into your daily routine. I never thought of myself as coral type of person and I actually found something within my comfort zone.

This season I am sporting Bite’s High Pigment Matte Pencil in Electric Coral from Sephora. It goes on smooth and you get high impact color with two coats. If you want something more subdued just put on one layer and blot with a tissue.

Ray of Light

Hello sunshine, where have you been all my life? It’s almost mid April and we finally got a string of sunny days in Vancouver. (This makes me a very happy Sunny). It’s time to dust off those sunglasses and keep them close because I think (and I hope) that the sun is going to be here to stay for a little while. Here are some of the sunnies I am lusting after:

Kay Tran is a Canadian brand (go Canada!) that offers sunglasses for the hard to fit faces! Like mine, I have a small bridge (or shall I say no nose at all) and Kay Tran sunglasses are designed with less of a curve and extended nose pieces so they fit better and more comfortably.

I love what Warby Parker is about, they have the buy one give one program for eye-wear. (Have you checked out their line for dogs, Warby Barker?) It made me very happy to see that they collaborated with Suno on a line of contemporary aviator accented with our signature plaques.

80’s Purple has a huge selection of cool sunnies at all price ranges. I particularly like the Retro Super Future collection. They offer trend right design at affordable mid-prices.

If you are looking for clean, contemporary eye-wear designs with special attention to detail, The Row create by fashion twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson would be a good place to check out. I like these gold wired framed circle glasses, cool like John Lennon and the arms are wrapped in black leather for added luxury.

I am having a difficult time hunting Karen Walker sunglasses down and I’m tempted to order them online. They would have to travel a long way from New Zealand but don’t you think they would be so worth it?

Sweat Proof Eye-Makeup

Summer beauty buffs, say goodbye to smeared eyeliner and running mascara. Here are the products you need to use to smudge-proof your eyes. That’s right, these tried and tested products by yours truly can outstand the oiliest of Asian lids in the hottest of temperatures. Beach-proof, water-proof and melt-proof.

Eye Primer - If you have oily lids, a few hours in the heat will cause your eye shadow to crease. To avoid this eye-shadow faux-pas, an eye primer is your best bet. For ultimate staying power (and I mean your shadow will stay on for 12 plus hours) try “Shadow Insurance” by Too Faced.

Eyeliner - While I’m still a fan of Mac Cosmetics Liquid Last Liner, I’ve found another strong contender in the water-proof eyeliner category. Just like the Mac Liquid Last, the Geisha Ink Liquid Eyeliner is a 24-hour smudge-proof formula that is paraben-free. Both liners are extremely long lasting, to the point that you could go swimming with it on and it still won’t budge.

Mascara - There was a ton of buzz around Kiss Me’s tube mascara. However, while it did extend my lashes, I felt that the tube mascara made my lashes look stringy and sparse. My new favourite is the Geisha Ink Ultra Volume Mascara. The texture is similar to the Kiss Me mascara but the results are a lot more natural and volumizing. It’s has a water-proof and smudge-free formula which increases lashes up to 3x its original volume.

SSENSE: Interactive Shoppable Music Video

Luxury online shopping site, SSENSE has introduce a very cool new way of interacting with their site. It definitely comes with some cliches as it took a few tries before the video was playing smoothly and I had some freezing issues when clicking on the screen. (Although maybe I just have a very slow computer). The interactive shoppable music video features FKi, a newly-signed Interscope rapper Iggy Azalea and Grammy-nominated Diplo. The music video premiere of ‘I Think She Ready’ was styled entirely by SSENSE, where you can shop Iggy’s, FKi’s and Diplo’s looks by using the interactive hotspot technology from wireWAX.

Enjoy the video and anytime you see the “S” hovering over the outfit, click on it and a new window pops up showing the outfit you can buy, right down to the accessories. You shop directly from the video! Could this be the wave of the future? Watching TV and movies and being able to buy what the actors and actresses are wearing on the spot? Now that’s what I call impulse shopping to the extreme.
