The end of September is near and Autumn is just around the corner. One of my favourite things about the transition is getting back into layering. I always say a nice scarf can change your look instantly and can also keep you cozy. Here are some of my picks for Autumn 2011:

lemlem: A line created by supermodel / actress Liya Kebede, handwoven in Ethiopia. Dolo textured cotton gauze scarf, $125.

String Theory products are designed by two textile designers – one specializing in knitting and the other in weaving. Made with top quality yarns from $120 - $220.

Virginia Johnson is a Canadian textile designer who creates colourful prints on clothing, shawls, home and children’s wear. Love her bear print light weight merino wool scarf, $195.

Since I travel a lot for work I am always looking for the perfect travel tote as my trusty companion. I need it to be large enough to carry a stack of magazines and then some. I have this really bad habit of carrying bags that are half the size of me. I’m only 5′2 but the larger the tote the more attracted to it I am - I don’t care if it looks out of proportion.
I think this season is the best time to purchase a tote and take advantage of the color-blocking trend. Contrast color and color-blocking is a great way to make something look distinctive. Love love this American Retro two tone leather tote from www.luisaviaroma.com. ($319.00)

After seeing Marc Jacobs on the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon the other night, I thought it would be a good idea to review his F/W 2010 handbag range. On my last trip to NYC, I quickly dropped into their Bleecker Street location to select my top three picks!
I absolutely love how structured the bag designs are this season - It’s time to set the slouchy handbag aside for one season. The fall/winter color palette shows off deeper and richer tones and shapes are primarily doctor bags, hip satchels and structured frames.

Head-dressing is taken to another level with Headmistress’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The collection inspiration is drawn from Jillian’s experience living in London, where the ladies there have been adorning headpieces for centuries.
I have seen a lot of feather headbands in the market, however Headmistress really takes it up a notch, experimenting with stretch head bands (York, $23), bow shapes (Trowbridge, $45) and my personal favourite, the tiara shape (Brick Lane, $55).
You can find Headmistress in stores all over the world or for you’re convenience, you can also shop online!

As the weather gets colder, my fingers need some loving. Leave it to Particia Field to re-spark my obsession - half scooped leather gloves as worn in Sex and The City by Carrie Bradshaw. To this day I still can not get them out of my mind and I am so glad I didn’t forget about them this fall/winter season. They are the perfect accessory in any color to complete an outfit.
Stay warm without looking like you have boxing gloves on. These mitts are dainty on the hands because of the unique “scoop” out design.
Original gloves are by Ines for $146.00 and you can get a version of them on the Patrica Field site for $48.00. You can also visit Cut Out + Keep, and follow their simple DIY steps to get … more …
