Bye Bye Domino!

I was so upset when I hard the news on the decision to shut Domino Magazine. Just a few days ago, Condé Nast closed its short lived shelter Domino, a hip, fresh home and design magazine (that I loved very much).

Condé Nast’s top management gave no hint of the planned closure as it gathered all the Domino staff to announce the news. Domino is just one of many other magazines that have recently folded like: Country Living, Cottage Living, O at Home, Vogue Living and Country Home.

Betsey Johnson’s Future

Betsey Johnson has decided not to participate in New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in February 2009. Instead, she will be presenting her collection out of her showroom (which will cost her 50% less).

It’s only speculation right now, however it’s been said that she is likely to design a capsule collection for either Target or H&M for Fall 2009.

Looks like she’ll be among all the other big time designers that have had the opportunity to design a recession-friendly line for mega box retailers!

The San Francisco-based e-tailer is planning on transitioning the site into an online magazine focusing on luxury markets. Sources said eLuxury has shown consistent sales growth from 2007 to 2008, therefore most are wondering why the changes have been put into action.

Some industry sources said they were surprised when David Asher was appointed the position to lead the e-commerce business. While he had almost 18 years of experience in luxury retail, having worked at Holt Renfrew, … more …
