Lovely to see the face of Jane Aldridge, blogger of Sea of Shoes, on Simone’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection lookbook.
Simone’s collection is a blend of metallic materials and animal prints…add some denim and ruffles to it too. I can not forget to mention the nautical stripes and corset lacing. I know it appears it’s everything and the kitchen sink. But for some reason, like Jane Alderidge’s style, no matter how it’s pieced together, it just works.

It’s Vancouver Olympic countdown and I’m here to give you the goods on how you can stay cozy and fashionable during the celebrations. From hitting the slopes to lounging by the fireplace, you won’t go wrong with these items:
1. Sorel’s lumberjack plaid booties are hard core, keeping your toes warm while offering style and comfort. (www.sterlingshoes.com)
2. Over sized chunky knits are a great substitute for the traditional cowichan sweater. It’s all about layering so adding a faux fur vest is a glamorous touch. (www.zara.com)
3. Keep your head warm with a Claudia Schuz hat. Inspired by a traditional cloche this modern take is functional and fashionable. (mooncruise gallery) *Photo credit: Trevor Brady
Stay tuned for more Olympic fall fashions and accessories as we continue to countdown.

It is still not warm enough to pull out those summer skirts, but you can still wear ‘tulip skirts’ in the winter. Montreal designer, Valerie Dumaine’s “Ines” wool blend high-waisted tulip skirt is stylishly tailored and perfect for risk weather.
I love how sculpted the skirt looks yet it drapes so softly. Offered in a classic black and white pattern you can get this office chic look at Valerie Dumaine for $145. (Made in Canada)

I don’t know if the sunny weather in Palm Springs had anything to do with it, but I fell back in love with designer, Trina Turk. I was able to land the best deal on a Winter 09 coat, however I am patiently waiting for the release of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
The collection smartly combines bold colors and patterns in retro inspired pieces and topping it off with very feminine details. Their bold color choices seem to be inspired from the wild African jungle and the Tropics of the Caribbean.
Either it be on the beach, at the restaurant, or a piano bar lounge, a Trina Turk piece will definitely get you noticed.
