Alright, so the last time I wore a pair of colored jeans I was probably 15 years old and they are back in full force for summer! This is one trend I am thrilled to see return as I think there is never any harm with a bit of boldness in our lives. Easily paired with blouses, t-shirts and blazers, colored jeans are a fun and bold way to make a statement. Colored jeans are offered in several price ranges but I personally think since it is a fad, you should go in on lower price point. Here are a few brands to choose from:

J-Brand Yellow Jeans $175.00, www.shopbop.com

BDG Red Skinny’s $59.00, www.urbanoutfitters.com

Skinny Green Stretch $59.90, www.zara.com

The skirt is probably the single most important item trend for Summer 2011. Hemlines have dropped and there’s something about this vintage look that makes an impact for anyone who wears it. 70‘s nostalgia is in the air and now sexy is all about below the knee - either a-line, boho, or slim, the look is feminine, whimsical and romantic. Here are some easy looks I’ve picked out to help round out your summer wardrobe:
Perfect for hot summer days, this white boho chic skirt by Guess has enough charm and whimsy. Let the sun shine down on you as you glide your way across the beach in this goddess like skirt.

Balmain stole my heart with it’s glamorous grunge looks, but thousands of dollars for ripped jeans and a sequin blazer does not sit well with me. It was recently reported by the London Telegraph that Balmain is planning to introduce a younger, lower priced diffusion line to be launched fall 2011 and available to buy from early 2012. It was just last year, January 2010 rumors of this second tiere line launch was diffused.
The new line will be called Pierre Balmain, after the label’s founder designer, who started the company in 1945. Under the new leadership of newly appointed head designer, Olivier Rousteing, the designs for the line will be created by a dedicated Pierre Balmain team.

Now for the big question: What price range will the line be … more …
I use to work with this Vancouver native years ago and was truly excited to hear that Alana finally got her first capsule collection out after years of hard work and dedication. Here’s your Industry Insider on Alana k, the designer behind Ka’kia:

How did you get into what you are doing now?: I started out styling, doing commercials and music videos. A few years ago, I decided to move to paris, I went to parsons to study fashion design, soon after I was making stage wear and styling for Emily Haines of Metric. I was pulling clothes for a Metric appearance on David Letterman and went into this design house to pull clothes, fell in love with the designer, 3 months later moved to NY and started designing with them. … more …
I had the pleasure of previewing a documentary film on a legendary and humble New York street style photographer, Bill Cunningham. To this very day at 82 years old, he rides his Schwinn bicycle around New York city searching for the “fashion”. He’s been a prominent fashion photographer for over 50 plus years and he’s seen fashion trends turn a few times over.
The New York Times photographer shoots and curates the paper’s “On the Street” and “Evening Hours” photo columns and he does this all on film and with such passion. After watching the documentary you’ll immediately fall in love with his kind demeanor and his ear to ear smile. He truly lives for fashion and loves his job and money has never been a motivator for him. “Don’t … more …
