My first “lately” post for 2012. I know that technically in the fashion world we are in pre-Spring mode…but here in Vancouver we are just getting snow and it’s mid January. However, it’s not stopping me from wearing my pony haired, leopard print, smoking loafers (www.sterlingshoes.com, $69.95). I say “screw you winter boots!”

Because I was plan old curious, I ordered a bucket bag from www.shoedazzle.com. (Please spare me the cheese and please don’t judge). To be honest I was not expecting much since I only paid around $45 CDN for this bag (this is including shipping by the way). The quality of the man-made material bag was impressive and the shipping was speedy. They also didn’t charge me extra for duty once it arrived to my door which is … more …
Macy’s location on 34th Street is getting a re-do and we are talking a massive $400 million investment of their flagship store in New York City. The plan is to be more focused on more upscale food eateries, the implementation of better technology and most importantly a re-vamp of the shoe department. (So exciting).

Yes, the already crazy busy shoe department of Macy’s is getting a multi-year renovation, expanding the second floor women’s shoe department to 39,000 square feet and it will also feature a coffee, wine and chocolate bar. What can get any better, have I died and gone to heaven? Shoes, coffee, wine and chocolate - All on one floor. It’s absolutely indulgent and over the top but it’s also a very logical plan.

Renovations are starting this … more …
The emperor of sexy footwear, Christian Louboutin has launched his first book. This book chronicles Louboutin’s world of shoe designing as he talks about some of his favourite designs and about what influences his work.

The self titled book starts by telling his tale of how he started his career with couture houses like Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. The book also showcases photos of his various international retail stores and all his major designs over the past 20 years. Apparently in one of the chapters we also get to a sneak peek at the designer’s homes in Egypt and Paris!

Barney’s recently had a book signing event with the man himself and you can purchase it for $150 at the store or on-line. I can’t wait to see this book … more …
The air is getting crisper and Fall.Winter 2011 has officially arrived. There are so many great trends this fall but I am going to highlight some of my favourites:
Suedes - For the fall you say? Traditionally people in Canada have a preconceived notion that suedes are hard to keep and typically steer clear. But I am happy to say, you’re not going to be able to avoid it this Fall 2011. Suede is a strong material interest being used in all categories, casual flats, platform heels and boots. What I appreciate most about suede is the texture and the richness of the colors. Protect them well with a leather spray and brush them frequently with a suede brush and you’re good to go in wet weather.

Rag and Bone, red … more …
Who doesn’t love cashmere? Cozy, warm, reminds me of the fall and sitting in front of a fire place. TOMS shoes has stepped it up a notch and collaborated with The Row on a small collection of cashmere and Italian wool slippers selling in three colorways for $140 - $150 each. Yikes, pricey but if you’re a hardcore TOMS fan, I am sure this will tickle your toes.

I’m not quite sure how to wear them, in-door, out-door? You wouldn’t want to get them wet. Best bet is to wear them in-doors while reading magazines on your silk bedspread and perhaps eating caviar.
