Horns: Big and Small

There is one common thread I’ve spotted in some of the jewelry lines for S/S 2011 - Horn ornamentation is being used widely. I’ve seen them in all shapes, sizes and forms. Here are a few of my favourites:

The KOKNA handmade necklace by “A Peace Treaty” is a head turner. Part of the THAR collection, the necklace has an encased horn shaped bone pendant with spikes on chains. It’s made sustainably from discarded camel bone. (www.lynnsteven.com, $225)

THAR

I had the privilege of attending one of Rocaille’s trunk shows last month and I instantly fell in love. I could have walked away with every piece and therefore an empty bank account. Designer Amanda He, scours the world for unique vintage items and deconstructs and re-transforms the pieces into works of art. The … more …

Circles and Hoops

I love delicate charms and styles that can withstand the test of time when it come to my jewelry. My two favourite pieces this season are from Lisbeth Jewelry. I am wearing either one or the other around my neck and sometimes both at the same time.

The “Ave” necklace ($86) is a lustre of textured vermeil circle pendants that hang delicately from a 23″ gold fill chain. I liked this one so much I also bought it in sterling silver ($82). What I love about this piece is that it works so nicely with a dress blouse as well as with my basic v-neck tee-shirt. The length of the necklace sits just perfectly across my collarbone.

I’m In the Mood

Internationally renowned designer Elsa Peretti comes out with a must have fashion accessory for summer: a ring that captures the essence of the ocean displaying elegantly colored cabochon gemstones set in precious metals.

The stone is like a three dimensional orb, reminding me of a mood ring I use to have when I was a little girl. It’s available in three colors: green jade, turquoise and black jade set high either in a setting of 18 karat gold or sterling silver.

Elsa Peretti® cabochon gemstone rings are available exclusively at Tiffany & Co. Take a look for yourself and visit the Vancouver location at 723 Burrard Street. You can also make purchases on the Tiffany website at www.tiffany.ca, or by calling 1-800-265-1251.

Mix and Match

Toodlebunny Designs is a truly unique collection by Vancouver based jewelry designer Trudy Wynans. When I saw this pair of earrings at the recent One of a Kind Show, I had to have them. I loved the idea of the mis-matched ‘Birdcage’ and who says you have to match all the time?

All her pieces are intricate and feminine with a slight edge (which is me in a nut shell).  Toodelbunny has been featured on Sweetspot.ca, Flare, LOULOU, Fashion Magazine and now on partlySunny!

Visit Wynans creations at www.toodlebunny.com  and check their stock list for local retailers.
