Well, Joe Hyneck a PhD student of mechanical engineering at Iowa State University is coming to the rescue! He has created a solar handbag that charges cell phones and iPods.
Here’s the non-scientific version of how the bag works: apparently Hyneck has taken thin-film solar photovoltaic cells and embedded them into the fabric of the handbag. When exposed to the sun, items within the bag start charging. The efficiency in charging is not equal to the charging of a wall unit, however Hyneck is refining the process. He is temporarily calling the item the “Power Purse”.

It’s still in the planning stages, but visionary French designer Jean-Marie Massaud’s conceptual ‘Manned Cloud’ is nothing short of breathtaking.
The reality of this eco-friendly, whale-shaped airship and hotel is currently being explored with the aid of the French National aerospace research department ONERA. If this whale of a project ever does get off the ground, travelers will be able to explore the skies without leaving a trace behind; and they’ll be able to do so in luxury and style!
Able to cruise through the skies for 3 days non-stop, the airship can accommodate up to 40 guests in 20 luxury suites. It also contains a restaurant, lounge, fitness center, spa and a sundeck on top of a double filled helium envelope.

Ok ok, besides the fact that it could probably end up being an annoying nuisance, it is a pretty unique concept. Every time you have guests over they can play a different tune. Over time each of your friends may develop their own distinctive ring!
