I am truly excited to get this interview up this month on Interior Designer and Photographer, Gaile Guevara. She’s obviously very talented and I absolutely admire her style and her work.
How did you get into what you are doing now?: As a kid I was inspired by my father and his love of using only the best graphic art tools. I was spoiled with using Pantone felt pens on quality vellum while my kindergarten classmates played with Crayola on craft paper. My artistic side was influenced by my father who was a graphic designer and technical drawing specialist for Albertan Oil companies, developing machinery in the tradition of manual drafting before computer software. My father is an inspiration for his attention to details. My education roots stem from a … more …
Lola Home and Apparel - I have always loved the store but I found it was simply too small. Now, Lola has a new home and it’s pretty darn sweet. With 4 times larger space, they can now properly show all their amazing product, including an entire section dedicated to kids, ladies apparel and bath and home.
Besides being the destination for Burberry infant apparel, Lola also showcases collections by local designers, Carlie Wong and Jason Matlo along with other labels hailing from Paris and Denmark. Since the expansion, you can now consider this Crosstown store as your one-stop-shop “boutique” store.

With Idea Paint you can turn almost any flat surface into a dry erase board. $29.99 gets you enough paint to cover 6 sq. ft. and it’s as simple as it sounds - paint the surface of your choosing to convert into a doodling, brainstorming, note-taking haven. From “drywall, plaster, tables, bikes, garden gnomes, small ceramic cats” all you have to do is prep and prime the surface before you start. IdeaPaint will be as smooth as the surface you paint.
Save the environment by minimizing paper waste and there’s no need to worry about toxic chemicals. It is formaldehyde-free, and releases no harmful gases once it’s dry.

I just started seriously cooking this year and I have become an addict. I am always on the hunt for deliciously simple recipes. I made this butternut squash recipe courtesy of Erin Ireland, the other night. As she promised, I became an instant fan the second I took a bite and it is 100% partlySunny approved. So here it is, so good that I had to share it with you.
Pre-heat up your oven at 400F. Cut your buttercup squash into quarters, lay them on a pan and then brush with olive oil and top with some minced ginger and garlic. Bake for about 35 minutes. While you wait, make the dip:
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tbsp miso paste (any kind will do)
2 gloves of minced garlic

New home decor store, Orling and Wu located in historic Gastown displays some of the most inspirational objects for the home. When I walked in, I felt like I was transported somewhere in Europe. Owners and founders Fredrik Orling and Julie Wu both have the creative eye for sourcing the best design from all over the world.
They carry unique product from handmade cushions by William Yeoward, Vivaraise bath mats and towels from France and my favourite, sofa pieces by Carl Malmsten.
No matter what it is, I think you’ll be able to find something that will become a must have for your home.
