I get back to New York every 4 - 6 months and every time I go back there’s always new store openings as well as one I completely missed out on during my last visit. There never seems to be enough time to see them all as once. So here are four stores you must drop into when you visit the next time:

Alexander Wang: 26 year old American designer Alexander Wang finally invades Soho, New York. He took up the old Yohji Yamamoto space at 103 Grand Street and it’s a sleek boutique featuring glossy marble, extremely high ceilings, a fox fur hammock and draped with lush exotic flowers. I never usually write about men’s fashion, but I could not resist when I found www.MRPORTER.com (thanks to my friend May Globus for posting it on her Tumblr page). As a woman, I cruise www.Net-a-Porter.com almost everyday and finally there is a perfect mate for the men. Not only can men shop for the most up to date fashion trends and classics in apparel, footwear and accessories, it’s a library of style tips and resources with inspirational sections featuring a “Style Directory”, video manuals and “How To” blog posts.

The other night I attended a shopping event held at Obakki in conjunction with Fashion Magazine. For this one night they offered discounts on their new Fall 2010 collection pieces as will as steep discounts on their Spring 2010 collection. I was one lucky girl to have walked away with a gorgeous petal sleeve silk blouse for 75% off the regular tagged price.

That evening Rebecca Tay, Western Editor of Fashion Magazine also took the time out to review Fall/Winter 2010 trends with the eager crowd. Here is a summary of main points mentioned as well as what I saw at the store:

- Pants are worn loose and made perhaps in much softer materials like silk and micro-suede.
