Scandinavian cocktails, cashmere blankets and no choice but to huddle up close for heat and warmth - sounds like the perfect date venue to me.
Welcome to Polar, a new underground lounge that just opened its doors in New York underneath Gramercy’s Marcel Hotel. A swanky ice den of sorts, you can sip on drinks like Operation Highjump (Reyka Icelandic Vodka, Frozen Grapes, White Grape Juice and Pear Eau de Vie) while sharing an appetizer like Truffle Egg Toast.
Tuck away by drawing down the curtains in a private VIP ice cave - decked with mirrors cozy couches, and plush pillows. Perfect for some not so private PDA.

We have lift off on the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic games. For those in need of some some information, I found the best guide for all you fellow iPhone users.
The FREE guide app is the official mobile spectator guide of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games. Once you download it, you will have the updates on all sporting and cultural events happening around the city at your finger tips.
The best part about it? For those who are not attending the games and enjoying it from the comforts of their homes, the app delivers real time results so you will be up to date on medal counts and all.
Game on, go Canada!

They have opened their second location downtown! For just about ten dollars, you can spoil yourself with a delicious bowl of ramen, and paired with a good ol’ bottle of coca cola of course. The charshu (BBQ pork) is extremely tender, and there are 5 variations of broth. Japanese owned and operated, quaint and open space and the service is friendly and fast.
The challenge with many of the ramen shops in Vancouver are the long line ups. At Benkei, perhaps due to a larger space or the fact that it is still fairly new, I was able to get a table within 5 minutes. That’s record breaking ramen time.
Go hungry and don’t forget to get your ramen stamp card filled!

OK, I never thought I’d get into ‘Twilight’, but I have also learned to never say never. You’re probably wondering about the alluring title of this post. What does Twilight have anything to do with Kobe Meatballs?
This Friday November 20, 2009 is the launch of “New Moon”, the second movie in the Twilight saga. For the fans that have worked up an appetite waiting in line for the movie, they can head over to Glowbal and receive 50% off their famous Kobe Meatball with Truffled Spaghetti dinner entree. All you have to do is simply show your ‘Twilight: New Moon’ movie ticket or ticket stub. The offer can’t be combined with other specials and it runs from November 20th to December 3rd.
Now that’s a pretty amazing thing.

I’m always on the search for quality, fresh sushi spots. One of my recent favorites is Oyaji Zushi - a quaint little sushi restaurant located in the Waterfall building near Granville Island. They only serve wild salmon and you can have your sushi made with brown rice. Reasonably priced, with specialty rolls such as the Tuna Crunch Roll - tuna topped with Unagi and garlic chips for $8.50.
Open Monday to Friday from 11AM to 8PM and on Saturday from 12PM to 8PM.
