After reading the book “Eat Pray Love”, I’ve been wanting to head back to Italy to visit Naples so that I can taste their world renown pizza. Well, since Nicli Antica Pizzeria opened in Gastown, I didn’t have to go far for some authentic Naples pizza. The space is very inviting, crisp and simple with really high ceilings. If it’s busy you can just stand by the bar and have drink before getting seated.
My boyfriend and I started off our meal with the Insalata Mista ($7, mixed greens, roasted garlic, roasted tomatoes & shaved fennel drizzled with our red wine dijon vinaigrette) and Insalata Proscuitto e Rucola ($12, prosciutto, arugula, roasted pear, cambozola, balsamic-fig vinaigrette). My girlfriends and I came across a little painting studio which offers BYOB Painting Classes for the budding artist within and the fact that you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst expressing your inner Picasso, just makes painting so much more fun!
Located in the heart of the Flatiron district, the Paint Along studio fits a class of about 12 people. When we went, they were mostly ladies, looking forward to learning a thing or two about canvases and acrylics. The Paint Along crew is friendly and super-helpful. The 2 hour class takes you step by step and shows you how to create lovely paintings fit to be displayed in any home! When you sign up online, you’re able to select what you’d like to paint. They have a calendar … more …
Well, technically not exactly on the beach but fairly close to water. Sea Monstr Sushi is a new joint that opened up in Gastown by Boneta partners Mark Brand and Alex Usow. Now you don’t have to go far to find some good quality sushi in the G-Town hood.
The space is an efficient 585 square foot with 2 small tables and stool seats at the back and bar seating along the front. No cocktails but they do serve up Sapporo beer on tap. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite, it’s not exactly a place to hang out for long periods of time - It’s eat, pay and go. Cash only by the way.
The name just kills me, it’s too darn cute for words. Try saying Sea Monstr Sushi fast … more …
The first free standing Joe Fresh retail store landed in Vancouver October 13, 2010. The design of the store is classically modern, simple and clean. It spans 14,000 square feet over 2 floors and is conveniently located in the centre of downtown shopping nestled in between Holt Renfrew, The Bay and H&M.
The entire first floor is dedicated to ladies with a very small section for men on the second floor along with active wear and sleep wear. Even though the menswear selection seemed to be more of an after thought, I was reassured by Joe staff that their intentions are to have a much fuller men’s section and maybe even kids in the near future.
I joined in on the festivities at their VIP opening party. It was a mixed room of … more …
