Built in Bluetooth Headset

Bluetooth headsets are pretty handy when you’re multitasking but easy to loose unless you keep it in your ear 24-7.

Finally our friends at LG have created the first mobile phone to ever include a built-in Bluetooth headset. With the headset attached to the back of the phone it recharges as your phone charges! No more shuffling through your large tote bag to find that tiny mini headset.

The LG Decoy is a stylish slider phone with a 2.2 inch mirror-like LCD screen, a 2 mega-pixel camera, music player, microSD expansion slot and video recorder.

For now, only available with our neighbors south of the border. Verizon is the carrier and they are going for $180 USD with a $50 mail-in rebate. Keep your eyes peeled when they land in … more …

Mini Me

Are you a huge Leica fan but it’s just slightly out of your price range? Here’s some good news: The digital classic camera from Minox comes in a really stylish format. It’s designed to have the features of a miniaturized shell of the legendary Leica M3!

With a 5 megapixel function and 32 MB internal memory, holding SD cards with a capacity of up to 2 GB, you’ll get sharp images and with no need to worry about memory space.

You get all this camera, retailing for way less then an original Leica at $350 USD.

Fashion Meets Tech

Collaboration projects with high-end designers and mega-chain retailers is one thing. What about the collaboration of a world renown fashion designer and a tech company?

HP and fashion designer Vivienne Tam have put their brains and their talents together to create the first in designer notebooks: a digital clutch notebook.

The design is to represent double happiness, gleaming in red and bursting with pink and purple peony flowers. The symbolism of the flower represents the many layers to a busy woman’s life and both Tam and HP hope that this digital clutch will help you juggle the demands of home and office.

No specs out yet and the price is still TBC. Stay tune and hopefully you’ll see me walking around town with one shortly.

Power To Go

So you’re running along, enjoying your day and all of a sudden you Blackberry beeps with a warning saying; BATTERY LOW. Oh no!

Well, Joe Hyneck a PhD student of mechanical engineering at Iowa State University is coming to the rescue! He has created a solar handbag that charges cell phones and iPods.

Here’s the non-scientific version of how the bag works: apparently Hyneck has taken thin-film solar photovoltaic cells and embedded them into the fabric of the handbag. When exposed to the sun, items within the bag start charging. The efficiency in charging is not equal to the charging of a wall unit, however Hyneck is refining the process. He is temporarily calling the item the “Power Purse”.

Once it gets to market it will range from $300 to … more …
