Here Kitty Kitty

This F/W 2010 I have fallen back in love with leopard. I have always seen leopard prints has something that would “age” me however I have come to terms that this print is here to stay and is as fierce as ever. There is always an element of leopard in every F/W collection but it’s stronger than ever this year.

If you are bold and sassy I would have no fear and go with a faux fur leopard print coat - The bigger and fuller, the better. Or if you are a little more subdued like myself, wear the print as an accent by accessorizing with a leopard print scarf or perhaps a pair of cool shoes (Jeffrey Campbell).

I found a pair of fabulous printed pants from www.shopnastygal.com that I felt … more …

Riding Along

As a busy woman I can not be in a high heeled boot everyday (although I’d like to think I can do it). To get that sophisticated look in a boot and be comfortable at the same time, I like the riding boot (a boot that is equestrian inspired). The riding boot silhouette has been around for ages and is quite suitable for most women for every day wear.

With a slight lift in the heel you get just the right amount of height, the shaft is usually a little wider which makes for an easier fit and they are usually adorned with some sort of harness or buckle detail. There is nothing wrong with sticking to basic black however, I prefer glossy rich leathers in a bordeaux or a … more …

Grandpa Sweaters

I use to love watching the “Cosby Show” and I especially loved those moments when Doctor Huxtable graced us with his presence, rocking one of his “hideous” patterned sweaters. Everytime he wore one of his sweaters, I just giggled to myself and vowed I would never put such a thing on my body.

I now find it ironic that I have to take those words back. Drawing inspiration from the “Huxable” sweater, the “Grandpa sweater/cardigan” is this F/W 2010 biggest trend. Paired with a flirty dress or leggings, belted at the waist or worn frumpy and loose, expect to see them in all shapes, sizes, patterns and color combinations.

Some of my favourite picks are shown here. Main photo, burgundy and gray sweater by Wilfred from Aritzia,  belted navy and green … more …

On Land or Out at Sea

Sperry Topsiders have been around for some time now and worn predominantly by men. Paul Sperry invented the first boat shoe for sailors in 1935, creating the wave-like grooves in the sole to help maintain traction on slippery surfaces.

Who would have thought many decades later that it would become a big hit with the young lads and dames today. This American preppy look is a big trend in the East Coast and it’s slowly catching on in the West.

You can find their classic ladies “Angelfish” loafer at select Sterling Shoe locations as well as on-line at www.zappos.com

On the boat or not, these Sperry’s are timeless, classic and most importantly, comfortable.

Lace, Not Only For The Bedroom

Don’t put away the lace quite yet. Although lace is usually only seen in lingerie we are now seeing it in day-wear. Big fashion labels like Dior, Chanel and Valentino all displayed a load of lace in their Spring/Summer 2010 runway collections.

The trend seems to make perfect sense as the fabric is light-weight and comfortable. Not only does lace make you feel ultra sexy, it makes you feel like a lady as well. Stick with black lace for evening however to rock out a day look, I would sport a lighter shade, like my nude Lula Scalloped Lace Dress from www.shopnastygal.com
($48 USD).

Pair it up with a cardigan or blazer, flat sandals or heels. The number of combinations are endless.
