The air is getting crisper and Fall.Winter 2011 has officially arrived. There are so many great trends this fall but I am going to highlight some of my favourites:
Suedes - For the fall you say? Traditionally people in Canada have a preconceived notion that suedes are hard to keep and typically steer clear. But I am happy to say, you’re not going to be able to avoid it this Fall 2011. Suede is a strong material interest being used in all categories, casual flats, platform heels and boots. What I appreciate most about suede is the texture and the richness of the colors. Protect them well with a leather spray and brush them frequently with a suede brush and you’re good to go in wet weather.

Alright, so the last time I wore a pair of colored jeans I was probably 15 years old and they are back in full force for summer! This is one trend I am thrilled to see return as I think there is never any harm with a bit of boldness in our lives. Easily paired with blouses, t-shirts and blazers, colored jeans are a fun and bold way to make a statement. Colored jeans are offered in several price ranges but I personally think since it is a fad, you should go in on lower price point. Here are a few brands to choose from:

J-Brand Yellow Jeans $175.00, www.shopbop.com

BDG Red Skinny’s $59.00, www.urbanoutfitters.com

Skinny Green Stretch $59.90, www.zara.com

The skirt is probably the single most important item trend for Summer 2011. Hemlines have dropped and there’s something about this vintage look that makes an impact for anyone who wears it. 70‘s nostalgia is in the air and now sexy is all about below the knee - either a-line, boho, or slim, the look is feminine, whimsical and romantic. Here are some easy looks I’ve picked out to help round out your summer wardrobe:
Perfect for hot summer days, this white boho chic skirt by Guess has enough charm and whimsy. Let the sun shine down on you as you glide your way across the beach in this goddess like skirt.

The great thing about fashion is that we are able to grab fast fashion at low prices and unique ones for much more and mix and match as we see fit. Either way you look at it, from a $20 skirt to a $2,000 pair of boots, it’s all about getting more for your money nowadays and I am all about stretching my dollar the best I can .
I know when I’m shopping, I am always thinking about all the ways I am able to wear the particular item with the other things in my closet. The more versatile the item is the better chance it has making it home with me. This is why I love convertible fashion, pieces that can be worn two ways or more!
